Sports Science: Tito Ortiz

Not many people like Tito but I do. This guy is an incredible wrestler, is always in shape and getting better by the day. On Sports Science Tito proved his power on the body slam. Tito slammed a guy onto the ring at 2,400 lbs of force. That is not human or believable. 2,400 lbs of force is like a 35mph car crash with out a seat belt. Ive seen Tito knock out people with just a body slam. Tito is no joke and a true MMA athlete.

Sports Science: Randy Couture

Randy Couture my hero! This guy showed his ground and pound power in a mount position and pounded away on the cash test dummy. His numbers were insane when they hit at 2,000 lbs, twice the amount of the Boxer from last week and 200 lbs more then Rampage’s numbers. This is like a sludge hammer coming down and hitting you in the head.

Sport Science: Bas Rutten

Bas Rutten did it this time! A while ago Sport Science they tested a Muay Tai knee strike ( which was more powerful then the Karate and Kung Fu kicks). The numbers were off the charts. It was equivalent to a 35 mph car crash and pushed the chest in about 1.5 in. Yesterday on Sports Science Bas Rutten gave a kick so hard that the guy that was giving the test made him do it again because the numbers were too high. Bas Rutten pushed the chest in 2.7 in(and created heart trauma) with a classic round house shin kick. Its proves the MMA kick is superior.

Kurt Pellegrino vs. Alberto Crane

UFC Fight Night 12. This was good fight. The round opened with “Pellegrino” catching a nasty shin kick to the chin.”Pellegrino” fell knocked out and came to when he hit the floor. “Crane” jumped on him and tried to put him in a guillotine. “Pellogrino” popped his head out and then escaped submission attempt after attempt. The fight went from the ground to stand up and back around. “Pellogrino” dominated the stand up game and escaped every submission attempt. “Crane” stood no chance, even with the hole under “Pellogrino’s” lower lip from the big shin kick.”Pellogrino” did an excellent job.

Drew McFedries vs. Patrick Cote

UFC Fight Night 12. I was glad for Patrick Cote in this fight, he really needed this fight in the UFC to go well. The fight went back and forth for a while and then “McFedries” caught a left hook & a good uppercut to the chin by “Cote”. “McFedries” went down and covered his head while “Cote” was dropping bombs, then Herb Dean came in and stopped the fight. Remember “McFedries” trains with the “Miletich” camp and has trouble finding someone to spar with because of how hard he hits(that’s saying allot). I tip my hat to Patrick Cote and hope the best for him.

Martial Arts History Museum

I visited the Martial Arts History Museum in Santa Clarita the other day and I was not happy with it. When you think of Kung Fu or Martial Arts who’s name pops up first? Bruce Lee brought the Chinese culture and Martial Arts to America and most of the world. I believe that Lee did not get the recognition he deserved. His display was the smallest and facing the wall in the corner. To add insult to injury Hong Kong Phooey had a bigger display with a tv playing his cartoons. Evey time the tour guide talked about Bruce he talked about him as if he was just another Martial Artist. Bruce Lee is the biggest name in Martial Arts and he didn’t get there by sitting on his ass either. Bruce work his ass off and some people believe he even gave his life for it. You really should see for your self.

UFC 80: Gonzaga vs Werdum

Im not a fan of either of these guys and the performance they gave that night is the reason why I’m not a fan. “Gonzaga” was not as dominate as he was in the “Cro Cop” fight and not even as much as he was in the “Couture” fight. “Fabricio Werdum” was very clumsy and did not respect the power of “Gonzaga’s” kicks. In the end “Fabricio” won by ref stoppage. “Gonzaga” pretty much curled up in the fetal position and waited until the ref stopped it. Sorry guys I was not impressed with either of these two.

UFC 80: Penn vs Stevenson

BJ Penn took Joe Stevenson to school and dominated the whole fight. I thought the cut above Stevenson’s eyes was good enough to stop the fight. But they kept the bloody fight going and in the second round Penn submitted Stevenson by the “Rear Naked Choke” Excellent performance by BJ Penn.
